Strawberry-Banana Oatmeal Smoothie Bowl

I mentioned in a recent post that I wanted to try more recipes. Usually when I come across a recipe, I try it exactly as-is, and then spend another week playing with it to make it even better. This week, I made it up as I went along and it turned out pretty fantastic.

A friend of mine has been posting photos every day of her smoothie bowls, and I was curious enough to try one out myself. I’ve always been a fan of smoothies in a cup, but smoothies in a bowl? They look delicious. I decided to try out a simple one this week before I get more adventurous (I always buy too much fruit and I hate if it goes to waste, so I went with simple fruits I usually have in the fridge already).

Ingredients:

  • 10 to 12 fresh strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • ½ cup of rolled oats
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup of blueberries as a topping
  • ¼ cup of kiwifruit as a topping

Directions:

Throw everything in the blender (except what you want as a topping) and blend away! Pour into a bowl, top off with some fruit and extra oats, and enjoy (don’t forget to take pictures!). It’s that easy.

Verdict:

I’ll definitely be making smoothie bowls more often.
